Plan your embroidery in 4 steps

1. Start with the garment

A left-chest logo on a shop polo has a different job from lettering across a sweatshirt. Tell us which piece people will wear, when they will wear it and what should be visible at a glance. If you already own a garment you want us to consider, send a photo of the front, back and label. We can review the fabric and the space available before you commit to a placement.

2. Choose which parts of the artwork to stitch

For embroidery on a small area, start with the part of your design people recognize first. A business name and a simple mark often read more clearly than a full logo with a street address. Send the original artwork if you have it. Flag any lettering that must stay and tell us which brand colors matter most so we can discuss the closest thread choices.

3. Decide between thread and appliqué

With direct embroidery, the thread builds the design on the garment. For a larger letter or shape, appliqué lets a piece of material fill the center while stitching defines the edge. On the pink ribbon sweatshirt shown above, that combination leaves room for the pattern inside each letter. If you want a similar effect, tell us what should appear inside the lettering as well as the word you want to spell.

4. Read the proof as if you were wearing it

Check names, capitalization and the direction the design faces. Left chest means the wearer’s left. If you are ordering several sizes or mixing polos and sweatshirts, identify which garment gets which logo. Include the number of pieces and the date you need them. We can then review your embroidery choices together and work out what belongs on the proof before the stitching starts.
